An Elle Woods Inspired Pink Winter Outfit
Every week on my Instagram I post a '“Fashion Tip Tuesday” reel where I show/talk about styling tips, and this week’s was all about putting together a monochromatic look! It’s no secret that my favorite color is pink, and as you can tell from this outfit, specifically my fave shade of pink is in the blush/rose range 😉💖 I’ve collected quite a few pieces in this shade over the years - I clearly cant’t stay away! It just speaks to me and I immediately gravitate towards it (literally like a moth to a flame 🔥). I hope this outfit would get the Elle Woods stamp of approval; I think it’s totally up her ally! In my reel I talked about some tips for putting together a monochromatic look and I wanted to include them in a blog post too.
When you’re styling an outfit all in the same color, the key is to add dimension by using different shades of the same color. If you wore the exact same shade of blush pink, for example, your outfit would probably look flat and one-dimensional. By mixing up the different shades of the same color (I.e. blush, rose, watermelon), you’re adding visual interest and creating a look that makes a statement! I tied this look together with a soft pink beanie and my Mansur Gavriel bag (similar here) in my favorite shade of blush.
The other element you’ll want to consider is pairing different fabrics and textures together. This also intrigues the eye and makes your outfit more interesting. For this look, I paired a shimmery, knit sweater with a silk skirt and topped it off with a wool blazer. All of these different fabrics play off of each other and the silkiness of the skirt catches the light as you move, which is a nice contrast to the flat, non-reflective fabrics I’m wearing on top.
What are your thoughts on a monochromatic outfit? Are you a fan, or do you prefer to mix colors together?
