Spring Fashion Trends To Try In 2023
It may still be the middle of winter, but spring is just around the corner which means it’s time to start getting your shopping list ready! I’m so excited for the warmer temps and all the spring fashion that goes along with it. There are so many fun trends coming down the pike this season with some taking on iterations from last year - it might just be my favorite spring yet! Let’s dive into a few of my favorites and the trends that I plan on investing in for spring ‘23.
Key Lime
This spring we’ll all be seeing green thanks to this refreshing and vibrant pop of color that’s making it’s rounds in pretty much every fashion category. Kelly green had it’s moment last year but now it’s lime’s time to shine! Wearing a head-to-toe lime green outfit might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so if you’re in the same camp as me, try incorporating this trend into your wardrobe via accessories like shoes, bags, or jewelry. I preordered these sleek heels by Schutz as my way of trying out this trend and I think they’ll be the perfect pop of color to add to some of my neutral outfits.
Baggy Denim
We’ve seen so many denim silhouettes come and go over the years, from low-rise and skinny, to high-waisted and flares. This spring it’s all about loose-fitting jeans that will have you feeling like it’s 1999. Some of the denim styles that we saw on the runway almost resembled wide-leg trousers that’s how baggy they are! This trend falls way outside my comfort zone since I’m so used to skinny and straight leg styles, but I’m going to give these 90s jeans from Abercrombie a whirl since they don’t look to be too oversized. When it comes to trying out fashion trends it’s all about finding that balance of trying something new while still feeling confident and comfortable.
Crochet Knits
At first glance this crochet knit trend may seem to lean more into the boho vibes or that it’s only reserved for the beach, but so many designers are becoming more and more creative with this technique and incorporating it in new ways. These loosely woven knits are the perfect way to transition from winter to spring and they come in a variety of options like tops, dresses, and skirts! I ordered this cropped cardigan by Free People and love that it’s done in another trending color for spring - lavender. This paired back to the baggy denim and lime green heels is such a vibe! Can’t wait to show you the entire styled look.
Bralettes Are Back
The “underwear as outerwear” trend made a huge splash last spring. We saw bralettes being worn underneath blazers and other outerwear pieces, but this spring it’s all about removing that layering piece and letting your bralette take center stage. This isn’t a trend that I feel comfortable rocking in it’s fullest expression, so I’ll still be partying like it’s spring ‘22 and wearing my blazer over my bralettes! Like I mentioned earlier, it’s important to feel comfortable while trying out new trends otherwise you’ll feel so self-conscious worrying about your outfit and that’s not fun at all! You can still participate in the trends even if you modify them to make them work for you :) Perhaps try opting for more of a crop top instead of a bralette that looks like a bra - I liked a variety of options below!
Oversized Blazers Reimagined
Another trend that’s making a comeback this spring is oversized blazers. We saw these paired back to trouser shorts and oversized trouser pants last spring - a more relaxed RTO (Return To Office) look - but this year we are seeing these slouchy blazers worn with a variety of different pieces like hot shorts, denim, and sleek column dresses. This spring you might even notice some blazers without any lapels to take on more of a modern, minimalist approach. The key here with this trend is to experiment and have fun! Whether that means exaggerated shoulders, fun colors, or vertical pinstripe patterns - make this trend work for you in whatever way makes sense! I’m opting for this gorgeous lilac pink blazer and I’ve also got my eye on this fuchsia pink beauty.
Big Bags
It’s not just Texas where everything is bigger - this spring oversized totes, shoulder bags, and clutches are making a BIG statement! I remember back in the mid-2000’s when big bags were all the rage and it felt like an impossible task to try and find your lip gloss that was buried at the bottom…guess I’m going to have to strengthen that skillset I thought I’d never need again 😂 I haven’t decided if I’m going all-in on this trend, but I do have a “large and in charge” Givenchy tote that I might just need to dust off and let her see the light of day.
Which trend are you the most excited about?! Let me know in the comments and stay tuned for lots of spring outfit inspo coming your way very soon! xo
