Candy Colored Shoes for Spring
Over the last few months I’ve had a lot of fun keeping up with the latest trends circulating in the fashion industry. When I worked in designer apparel at Nordstrom, a big part of my job was constantly reading WWD and Vogue to stay on top of all the happenings in the fashion world, and I gotta admit I really miss that! It’s so fun to see how trends circulate and how you start to notice celebrities and influencers all start to wear similar things. Remember when bike shorts started to become popular again a few years ago and it seemed like literally everyone was wearing them? Or how crop tops and bralettes have taken center stage over the last few months? Recently, I’ve started to notice a theme with colorful shoes in vibrant colors and I’m LOVING it! I’m normally a neutrals gal at heart, but there’s something about these fun pops of color for your feet that can truly take your outfit to a whole new level! I’ll admit, I honestly don’t really own that many pairs of shoes. Some women are really into handbags or shoes, or maybe even jewelry, but for me, I’m all about clothes! I’d rather buy a new dress or top any day over a pair of shoes. I guess I feel like my money goes farther when it’s an article of clothing I can wear vs a pair of shoes that I may not always wear, but with all these colorful styles making a statement for spring and summer, it makes me want all of them 😂
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite shoe styles of the moment in a wide array of colors, but as you can see, there’s a lot of different silhouettes that are in right now. For starters, the sexy, strappy style is very popular and is a super sleek option for date night or for an evening occasion, especially since most shoes in this category have thin, elegant straps. I love these when paired with a shorter dress or skirt to really accentuate and show off the legs! I recently bought this Marc Fisher strappy, lace-up pair in the seafoam green shade and they are stunning in person (they run TTS for reference)! You may have seen me wear them with this maxi dress in my recent post from earlier in the week, so you can absolutely wear the lace-up style with a longer dress, too. But, I’m really excited to style these in lots of different ways, like with this fitted dress in a similar shade and also with jeans.
Block heels have been trending for the last few years, but now we’re seeing them in tons of colorful shades which gives a fresh take on this style that we’re used to. Take this popular sandal from Dolce Vita that you’ve probably seen all over social media the last 2 years: they’re literally so comfortable and easy to wear, which makes it a no brainer as to why they’re all the rage! I can vouch for them because I just got a pair for myself 😉 Granted, I bought them in the ‘Caramel Stella’ color (these also run TTS) because I was looking for a neutral heel, but I’m seriously contemplating getting them in either the lavender or pink color to add a little pop to my wardrobe. The block heel style is my favorite when paired with jeans or a casual dress; it has more of a laid back vibe and I don’t think they are as well-suited for an evening look like strappy heels are.
You may also not be into heels and that’s okay too! There are plenty of colorful flat sandal options out there right now in both the sleek lace-up style or the chunkier banded strap style 🌈 I just talked about my love for the Dolce Vita block heel which also comes in a flat sandal version and it’s SO cute! The pink shade is giving me Malibu Barbie vibes - how can I say no?! I’m also a big fan of the flat sandal companion to the Marc Fisher lace-up heel that I recently bought. It comes in this vibrant, punchy orange shade that I’m loving, and they’re very practical to wear if you’re on your feet for longer periods of time. I also think you could easily dress them up with a more evening-ready dress or dress them down with a pair of cutoff denim shorts - it’s all about versatility!
While I don’t think it’s necessary to have 100 pairs of shoes in your closet, I do think it’s nice to have a variety of options in different categories, like flip flops, flat, dressier sandals, block heels, and evening/special occasion heels. I don’t usually get overly excited about shoes, but this season I’m loving all the color that’s trending and I can’t wait to add even more styles to my wardrobe! Next on my wishlist are definitely the flat Dolce Vita sandals, the flat Marc Fisher lace-up sandals, and also the dainty strap heels from Jeffrey Campbell. They come in so many great colors, but I can’t decide which one I would get! If/when I end up getting them I’ll keep you posted 😉
Are you into the colorful shoe trend this season, or do you prefer neutral shades?
