What to Give & What to Wear: Bridal Shower

Weddings are such a glorious and special occasion as two people become one and dedicate their lives to each other. Two of my very dear friends are getting married within the next few months, and I've got brides on my brain! I love all of the fun festivities that lead up to a wedding, such as the bridal brunches and bachelorette parties, but especially the bridal shower. It's a day to celebrate the bride and shower her with love and gifts in anticipation of her upcoming wedding. Today I'm sharing a few gift giving ideas for the bride, as well as tips on what (and what not) to wear!

What to Give

One gift idea that I stumbled upon after I got married and fell in love with, are these beautiful, velvet ring boxes from The Mrs. Box. They come in an assortment of colors to suit the bride's personality, and there is also an option to monogram them in a block or script font. With so many shades to choose from, I'm not even sure which color I would pick! Each one is handmade and sure to make any bride swoon.

I'm also a fan of personalized, wooden hangers with the bride's future last name displayed in the wire. I used this particular Etsy shop a couple years ago and was really happy with the results! The added element of engraving the wedding date, as well as a grosgrain ribbon give it a beautiful touch as well. There are different wood stains and other hanger options to choose from--the possibilities are endless!

Why not celebrate the bride's upcoming nuptials by engraving her soon-to-be initials on a necklace? I love this option to give a little added dimension, as well as this simple, bar pendant in silver, gold or rose gold.

What to Wear

Most of us are probably (and should be) aware of the number one rule when it comes to deciding what to wear to your friend's bridal shower, which is absolutely NO white. It seems obvious, but it should be said anyway. I'm always a fan of a fit and flare dress with a floral print for a springtime shower, like this one (on sale for $30!), and this ultra feminine one here (under $100!).

Whenever I'm looking for a pretty dress to wear to an event, I love browsing the Anthropologie website because they usually have a great selection of effortless, beautiful dresses to choose from. For a shower taking place during the fall months, you could opt for something with warm, rich tones. This one looks so free-flowing and comfortable, and this embroidered swing dress is so fun! I've linked a few more gorgeous dresses at the bottom of this post for you to check out too! And if dresses aren't your jam, you could also choose a nice blouse and a skirt instead.

Each shower has a different theme and setting, so make sure you read the invitation and take cue from that to determine how formal or casual it will be. The last thing you'll want to do is overpower the bride by showing up in something that is too dressy! If the invitation doesn't help in that regard, it doesn't hurt to talk to the bride (or maid of honor) and ask her if it's going to be a more laid back celebration or a chic soirée. It's best to get more details than assume or guess!

When it's all said and done, this day is all about the bride and celebrating this exciting moment in her life, and that's all that matters :) I hope you enjoyed this post, and thank you for stopping by! xo

Blushfully,

Belle
