The Disney Book
It's no secret that I love a good Disney book, and this one I'm about to tell you about is no exception. My husband gave it to me as a gift for Christmas, and I haven't put it down since! The Disney Book written by Jim Fanning, immerses you into the entire world of Disney, from the studio's early days, all the way to present day. I'm sure Alice would also be glad to know, that this book is filled with pictures! With each turn of the page, eye-catching illustrations and artwork jump out at you, as you read exclusive, insider facts about classic Mickey Mouse memorabilia, the movies, and the theme park that brought everything to life.
The book starts out by showing a timeline from the 1920s up until the 2010s. It highlights all of the achievements and important events from that specific year, starting with Walt working for the Kansas City newspaper in 1920.
I loved looking at all of the original Mickey Mouse merchandise that was made and sold from the 1930s-1970s. I wish some of this stuff was still around! My favorite is the vintage telephone pictured in slot #21.
The one that started it all! I love how this story sketch depicts Snow White's gentleness and kindness, despite her predicament. It's also sweet to know that Walt loved her the most.
Walt definitely got it right: Disneyland is the happiest place on earth in my book! Even when people were skeptical of his idea to create a park where parents could have fun with their children, he still believed in himself and his dream. Oh how I wish I could have been there on opening day! "If you can dream it, you can do it." -Walt Disney
I've always enjoyed looking back on original attraction posters. I love the unique art styles they are rendered in. It's a dream of mine to have one framed in my home someday! Along with a Thomas Kinkade painting.
This book is a gold mine filled with so many high quality photos of Disney history; definitely worth adding to your collection, or a great "first" to start your collection. This is my first "picture book", and there are many more I can't wait to get my hands on in years to come!
Have a great weekend!
Blushfully,
Belle
