Styling A Blazer & Bralette For Spring
Spring is in full swing here in Scottsdale and I’ve been having so much fun styling some new pieces in my wardrobe! I recently invested in a few key pieces for my spring capsule wardrobe based on the trends that are making a big statement this season. This outfit I’m sharing today probably comes as no surprise if you read my spring trends post, but this is my first time trying out the bralette trend and I won’t lie, wearing this outfit definitely boosted my confidence! I felt very much out of my comfort zone at first, but the inner dialogue going on in my brain said, “You can either continue to feel awkward and uncomfortable, OR you can own the discomfort and strut your stuff!!” So that’s what I did 🤩 or at least tried to do.
A couple of weeks ago I styled these trouser shorts with a matching white, silk blouse for a monochromatic look, but I wanted to try styling it with a bralette and blazer for a different vibe! The suiting trend is really popular for spring and will be for fall as well based on what we saw during the recent fashion weeks, but instead of pairing the matching pants with the blazer I wanted to try them out with the trouser shorts. Needless to say, I love how this look turned out! I love how the oversized structure of the blazer compliments the looser leg of the shorts. I don’t think I could pull this off if I was wearing a full length, baggy pair of trousers because it would just swallow me up completely; but showing off some leg definitely balances out the oversized nature of this outfit. I also wanted to make sure that the blazer didn’t fall below the length of my shorts, otherwise I feel like the entire look would be off balance and just look a tad strange.
If you’re looking to create a capsule wardrobe for spring, the most important thing is to stick with neutrals or colors within the same family. That way everything is interchangeable and you can mix/match all of your pieces together to create multiple outfits! It makes getting dressed so fun and easy which is how it should be, right?!
