Shackets Are Still Trending In 2022

In case you thought I wouldn’t continue wearing my shackets in 2022, sorry to disappoint! The shacket trend is here to stay in the new year and I’m here for it 👏🏻 I’m definitely expecting to see this trend continue into the spring season in lighter weight fabrics and pastel shades. What started out as skepticism (on my end) last fall has turned into a full blown obsession…I’m not mad about it 😉 I have 3 shackets in different lengths and fabrics (technically 4 if you count the new flannel I bought from Madewell) and I’ve gotten so much use out of them! More than I thought I would truthfully, but I’ve proven to myself that the shirt jacket is such a versatile piece that you can style in so many ways.

This camel shacket is the one I’ve gotten the most use out of: it’s the perfect neutral, an overall slim shape, and a nice, medium weight that doesn't feel too heavy or bulky. I’m constantly gravitating towards it whenever I go into my closet to put an outfit together, so this time I thought it would be fun to contrast the muted, camel hue with a bold pink! It’s been a long time since I’ve paired these two shades together, but I was instantly reminded how much I love this color combo! I also love the effortless vibe of this look and that it looks put together without trying too hard. The sneakers definitely complete the “casual vibe” - I had never owned a pair of Converse until September and I swear I’ve worn them every single weekend since 😂

When I used to work in retail I always had to dress the part, especially since I mainly worked in designer. My style during that time felt much more elevated and dressy; you would almost always find me in a pair of trousers with a blouse and heels. Now that I work from home and have a much different lifestyle, my style leans much more casual. I still love dressing up and I do miss having a reason to wear more elevated outfits from time to time, so this year I want to lean into that side of me a bit more and add a little more “oomph” to my looks. Don’t worry, I’ll still share lots of casual looks because that’s still very much a huge part of me!
