Reformation Neutral Summer Outfit

May has always symbolized the official start of summer for me. It’s when school got out and I had 3 months of endless possibilities in front of me. Even if there were pre-planned vacations taking place, I loved the optimism of summer and all that it could hold. Would I get tan while hanging out on the beach or reading a book by the pool? Would I discover new music that would become my soundtrack to the long, hot days ahead? Would I meet a cute boy while exploring a new city? 🙈 Yep, that was pretty much the extent of my teenage thoughts back then, but those sweet summers hold some of my fondest memories with my family and friends and have shaped how I view the summertime: full of hope, wonder, and adventure.

When this time of year rolls around I’m reminded that it’s important to plan trips throughout the year (not just during the summer), even if it’s just a long weekend, to get out of our day-to-day and spend intentional time with those you love. We just got back from spending time with our good friends in Orange County and it was so rejuvenating! Being near the ocean feeds my soul and I love soaking up the California sunshine. In 2 weeks I’ll be going back to California for a Disneyland trip with my mom which I’m beyond excited for 😍 Having things to look forward to is so important and we’re already trying to plan what our fall vacations might look like.

There’s something so classic about a pair of linen pants and a white blouse that just screams summertime. I usually associate linen with summer since it’s such a lightweight fabric and is a popular choice when it comes to swimsuit coverups, but this is my first pair of linen pants that I’ve owned (at least as an adult). When I saw these on the Reformation site they felt like a timeless pair of pants that I could wear for years to come. I love the ruffle detail on the waistband and the wide leg silhouette. The pants looked more cropped on the model and they do feel a bit long on me, so I’m planning to get them hemmed up ever so slightly so that they hit more at the top of my ankle. I also love seeing white paired with this heather oatmeal color - it’s still a neutral color palette but has a nice contrast! This corset-inspired tie-strap tank is so perfect for summer. I wore it with jeans this past weekend and feel like it’s so versatile to wear with literally anything! I originally ordered it in a blue and white floral pattern, but opted for the ivory which lends itself to being dressed up or down.

I was also contemplating wearing a neutral shoe with this outfit, but Freddy thought the pop of color would be fun and I totally agree with him! I most recently wore these lace-up heels with colorful dresses, but I really love them with a neutral outfit to provide just a bit of a pop.

What’s your favorite go-to summer outfit? I’ve got my eye on a new bikini in a gorgeous floral pattern that I’m really excited about, so stay tuned for some more summer-inspired outfits coming to the blog soon! xo
