My Favorite Shows From Milan Fashion Week S/S 2023
I still feel a bit star struck from all of the big moments that took place during Milan Fashion Week! First, there was Kim Kardashian’s collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana (#CiaoKim), next there was Paris Hilton strutting the catwalk at the Versace fashion show wearing an amazing Barbie pink sequin dress, and then Naomi Campbell closed out the Tod’s show! So much excitement that I’m still trying to unpack, but I figured we can do it together 😍 Today I’m breaking down my favorite shows from Milan!
Dolce & Gabbana
I’m sorry if this kills your vibe but I’m not a big Kardashian-Jenner family fan. I’ve never watched their show or followed them in the spotlight, but I do find their fame very fascinating. This show in particular was so unique because Kim acted as the curator, selecting pieces from previous collections between 1987-2007, that the designers would then subtly rework for today. Each look had a sewn-on patch with the year indicating which collection it came from - I thought that was so cool! It felt like a walk down memory lane seeing all of the D&G history walking the runway. Despite this show having a unique twist featuring looks from the past, today’s trends were still very evident in the sheer, slip dresses and lingerie-inspired details. Bravo to Kim and the D&G team for this fun-filled show!
Bottega Veneta
Bottega bags and shoes have become quite the “it” accessories over the last several years, but this is the first time I’ve paid attention to their clothing. I absolutely loved their spring collection! From bold power suits to romantic slip dresses and everything in between - it was all incredibly well done. I’ve been noticing off-the-shoulder necklines throughout several designer spring collections as well as slinky, sheer overlay on dresses. I feel like next spring is all about not being afraid to show off your skin in an elegant yet sexy way!
Versace
The highlight of the Versace show for me was Paris Hilton closing out the show in a stunning bedazzled pink dress. She was giving Bridal Barbie vibes with the pink veil and everything! It was such a cool moment and it’s been so fun this season to see big name celebrities participating in fashion week. I liked that Versace incorporated bold colors like pink and purple amongst the harsh black tones, but my favorite look from the collection was definitely the last one 💕
Alberta Ferretti
I discovered this new-to-me designer through Instagram and I’m so glad that I did! This collection had a stunning ethereal and romantic quality to it with the free-flowing fabrics. It almost reminded me of the movie FernGully (shoutout to those of you who remember that one 😉) and it instantly transported me to the late 90’s when I was very into fairies lol. Her choice of bold colors throughout the collection were so beautiful and I definitely picked up on themes that I noticed in other designer collections like the sheer overlay on figure-hugging dress silhouettes. I’m so glad that I learned about Alberta Ferretti during Milan Fashion Week and I can’t wait to see future collections from her!
Tod’s
Similar to Bottega Veneta, I’m more familiar with Tod’s when it comes to shoes and handbags, but I really loved seeing their clothing collection because I want it all 😂 One thing that I love about Tod’s is they do neutrals so incredibly well, which speaks right to my heart! Just look at the stunning leather trench coat that Naomi Campbell is wearing in the first image! #swoon I also love that their clothing is overall wearable and practical - it’s pieces that you could actually see yourself in which I appreciate. Sign me up for all of these looks!
I’ve got one more post in this series coming your way next Friday as I do a roundup of my favorite shows from Paris! See you then! xo
