Highlights From Paris Fashion Week 2023

We’ve made it to the final week of Fashion Month…Paris! It’s by far my favorite fashion week of them all with so many of my favorite designers based there. It’s the perfect cherry on top to end such an exciting whirlwind of fashion that makes me look forward to fall/winter that much more! Here were my favorite shows from Paris Fashion Week!

Zimmermann

Zimmermann is an Australian designer that I always look forward to seeing during PFW. It’s been a dream of mine to own one of their pieces and I’m really hoping that this could be my year! This fall collection is absolutely stunning. The billowing skirts are so romantic and the touches of lace add a feminine, delicate detail. Some of the silhouette’s were giving a little bit of a Victorian vibe while still feeling contemporary. This was hands-down my favorite show from Paris!

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney is always known for her vegan, environmentally friendly fashion designs and this collection did not disappoint! She drew inspiration from her love of horses to not only drive the pieces in the collection, but also the show’s location. It was set in a Parisian horse arena and there were live horses running around immediately to the left of the runway. After the show, McCartney said, “There’s so much leather and feather and fur con the runway, especially in winter, and I just wanted to show that you can do it in a different way. You don’t have to kill anything.” Such a powerful statement! I loved the tailored meets fluidity moments we saw on the runway and the beautiful use of neutrals against the sandy runway backdrop.

Valentino

Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this entire collection! It’s giving me a throwback to 2010 when the boyfriend trend was everywhere thanks to the ties and menswear vibes seen throughout the show. I didn’t necessarily need a tie in every single look and I felt some of them could have done without it, but I loved seeing some of the more “business” attire paired back to sparkly evening wear. It created a really fun contrast to make the sparkles feel more everyday appropriate. I’m very excited to try and replicate some of these looks for the fall season!

Alexander McQueen

As I was scrolling through all of the looks from Alexander McQueen’s fall collection, I immediately started singing “Unholy” by Sam Smith in my head thanks to all of the red tones throughout the collection. There was so much I loved about the show: the luxe fabrications, exquisite attention to detail with the drapery and sculpting, and gorgeous, rich textures. Red was a common theme in some other designer’s shows and I think it will be a trending color for the upcoming fall season!
