Hi friend! šš» I hope your week is going well so far! I feel like itās been a bit since Iāve done more of a long-form blog post and I thought it would be fun just to catch up and fill you in on life lately š The last week has felt like a bit of a whirlwind! My amazing friend Christine came into town and spent the day with me last Wednesday and it was so much fun! She lives in Fort Worth and was flying home to Burbank to visit her family, but made a 24 hour layover in Phoenix so we could hang - we hadnāt seen each other in 4 years!! š± The last time I had seen her was when Freddy and I moved from Austin to AZ. She was originally planning to visit last year but obviously the pandemic postponed that! Itās so crazy how time just flies by and you donāt even realize it, but whatās even better is catching up with a good friend in person and feeling like no time has passed at all š We met 10 years ago while leading Young Life in college and we basically became friends instantly! We still keep in touch regularly (even though Iām a horrible texter at times š¤Ŗ), but if the last year has taught me anything, itās that physical interaction with others is so needed! I literally couldnāt get over the feeling of āoh my gosh, youāre REAL and here with me IN PERSONā¦itās weird!!ā š I took her to some of my fave spots around the valley, and the first place on our list was The Henryā¦obviously! She has seen me post about it all the time on Instagram and kept asking me what it was all about, so I definitely had to show her in person. We spent the afternoon doing some desert sight seeing and walking around some shops at The Quarter, and then for dinner we went to a local pizza spotā¦and when we got home I was so sick š¤¢ I was soooo bummed about it!! š© Thankfully it happened at night after we got to spend a full day together, but dang I was having a rough time and wasnāt even up for watching Friends with her which is like our favorite past time! It was so sad. Freddy and I took her to the airport early the next morning and I was feeling better by then, but still exhausted. Despite that little snafu it was a great visit and I canāt wait to plan a trip to Texas to see her again soon!
I ended up taking Thursday off from work so that I could rest and recover from a wild night (not in a fun way š) and Freddy took the day off too which is so rare! It was great to just lay on the couch together and lounge. I started to feel a bit more normal by lunchtime so we got Jimmy Johnās and had a little sandwich date at home! š„Ŗ Fast forward to Friday morning when I got my 2nd vaccine dose š and I was feeling pretty good afterwards. I had taken some cold and flu medicine prior to getting the shot since I heard that might help - I figured it couldnāt hurt! I felt a little tired as the day went on but nothing major. By the time Friday night rolled around my arm was definitely getting more sore and I could feel a fever coming on. I woke up Saturday morning and felt awfulllll. Body aches, fever, sore armā¦you know the symptoms. I knew it would be temporary, but I planned on having zero plans that day so I could just binge watch Netflix and Hulu alllll day š It was honestly kinda nice doing nothing! I took a nap in the afternoon, watched almost all of Ginny & Georgia, and got to read. Basically a great day minus feeling crappy lol.
When I woke up on Sunday I felt 1000x better, which I was grateful for, because my good friend was having her bridal shower that afternoon and I definitely didnāt want to miss it! It was such a good time - we played games, had amazing food, and I got to meet some of her family and friends! š„° Even though I was sick for several days this past week and not feeling great, I also got to spend time with some really great friends and it was really fun! It was a good reminder for me that there will always be highs and lows in life, but when we focus on the positive things, they definitely outshine the not so great moments āļø In a couple of weeks Iāll be fully vaccinated and Iām feeling so hopeful for more exciting things to look forward to! More friend reunions, more traveling, more time spent with people I love, and more life lived š¤
