Christmas Reflections and Dreaming of 2019
Happy Thursday friends! I hope you had a great Christmas with family and friends. Freddy and I had a leisurely morning in our apartment; we lit a pine scented candle, made coffee before opening each other’s gifts and tuned into the Disney Christmas parade! After we opened our gifts and called family that lives out-of-state, we drove up to my parents house and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening with them! We got to go on a nice neighborhood walk with my dad (he walked far enough to earn himself TWO slices of chocolate pie for dessert that night!) and then afterwards I took a cat nap on the couch. My mom cooked a wonderful meal, and it’s become one of my favorites because she’s made this meal every Christmas for the past 10 years at least! She makes a pork tenderloin roast with béarnaise sauce, cheesy, scalloped potatoes and a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing—I can’t get enough of that meal! It was so nice to be able to spend another Christmas with my parents; life is precious and I cherish each day that I get to spend time with them and make new memories that I’ll hold in my heart forever.
I don’t know about you but I love giving gifts. I find so much joy in the gift-shopping process, thinking about what that person would love and finally seeing their reaction as they open their present. Giving someone you love a great gift that comes from the heart is so special, and it’s something I look forward to every year. This year Freddy and I tried something new where we started all of our Christmas shopping in November, and I must say I felt much less stressed/anxious this year! We weren’t rushed at the last minute trying to find gifts for our families, and I was actually able to wrap and send everything out so that it arrived well before the holiday. Crazy idea, right? We will definitely be implementing that strategy going forward because shopping felt like a breeze this year.
With 2019 just around the corner, I’ve been thinking and praying about what my goals and dreams will be for the new year. My friend’s sister told me about this website that helps you determine what your word of intention will be for a particular season in your life, in this case for the new year, and you can create a custom bracelet or necklace with that word on it to act as a reminder! There are so many words that I love like Create, Joy, Courage, Purpose, Inspire, Trust…I’m taking some time to journal before 2019 begins so I can set my intention for next year and determine which word I feel most empowered by! I love that it can be a daily reminder for me to pursue my dreams and to never give up on my goals. What are you most excited about for 2019? Do you have any big dreams you want to see come to fruition? I’d love to hear about them! xo
