A Night Out In Downtown
Now that Freddy and I both have weekends off together, we try to take advantage of that and do something fun with our time, whether it’s trying out a new restaurant, going to the movies or enjoying an outdoor hike. It’s been so nice over the past few months to really enjoy our weekends, since it’s something we have never had before in the 8 years we have been together! It was honestly a shock hanging out during the first couple weeks of having weekends off, but we have loved every minute of it, and now I can’t imagine it any other way!
Last month Freddy and I attended a really special showing of Star Wars: A New Hope at Phoenix Symphony Hall, where the orchestra performed the soundtrack right along with the movie! It was such an amazing experience, and I even teared up a couple times throughout the performance. If you had told me 10 years ago that I would tear up while watching Star Wars, I would have never believed you! It was only 4 years ago that Freddy got me to watch the iconic movies, just before The Force Awakens came out. You could say I’m a new generation fan—BB-8 is my favorite! Later this fall they are putting on another performance, this time they’ll be showing Empire Strikes Back and you better believe Freddy and I will be there!
After the show we ate a new-to-us restaurant called Dust Cutter, which serves Southwestern cuisine sourced locally from the Sonoran Desert. It was some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had—definitely a place we will go back to again and again. After dinner I was reminded of why we enjoy exploring new areas of our city. It’s a chance for us to get out of our comfort zone of where we usually go on the weekends to discover something new that we can share with family and friends. What do you love about exploring your city?
