My Favorite Shows From New York Fashion Week S/S 2023

Fashion month is BACK and I’m so excited! Earlier this year I started a new tradition of watching all the fashion week content and staying close to my Vogue Runway app to save all my favorite runway looks. It’s such an exciting time of the year for the fashion industry, and even though fall is just beginning, I’m already getting excited about the spring/summer season thanks to the gorgeous collections that designers have been debuting this past week. Get ready for vibrant colors, utilitarian-chic vibes, and lots of sequins! With NYFW wrapping up on Wednesday, I wanted to share my 5 favorite shows with you!

Fendi

This was quite the star-studded event and with very good reason. Fendi chose to debut their Spring collection during New York Fashion Week, rather than their home location of Milan, to celebrate a milestone anniversary: 25 years of the iconic Baguette bag! Seated in the front row was none other than Sarah Jessica Parker, who essentially made the bag famous on SATC, along with Kim Kardashian and Kate Moss. To help mark this special celebration, Fendi threw in a couple of brand collaborations with Tiffany & Co. and Marc Jacobs! The Tiffany blue croc Baguette that Bella Hadid carried down the runway sported a double-F logo pavéd in precious stones. And Marc Jacobs put a utilitarian spin on his portion of the collection by mixing high/low pieces together: sequins with utility jackets and shearling sherpa details paired back to mini skirts. This collection felt like such a fun celebration filled with vibrant colors, luxurious fabrics, and lots of sparkle!

Brandon Maxwell

So many of the looks from Brandon Maxwell made me swoon! The vibe I was getting from this collection was “office attire meets girls night out” - I loved the juxtaposition of structured blazers paired back to feminine sequin details. I also noticed some trending colors featured in this collection and others throughout NYFW like pistachio green and light lavender. We will definitely be seeing more of those shades in stores beginning early next year, so get your shopping carts ready!

Veronica Beard

Veronica Beard has been a long-time favorite brand of mine. I still remember the first time I was introduced to the Dickey Jacket when I was working at Nordstrom and I instantly fell in love! I showed it to all of my customers and soon they all fell in love with it too. What I loved about their Spring collection was the representation of every color of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple…they did not shy away from playing with all the colors! My absolute favorite look incorporated a stunning combination of rust with a sky/cornflower blue blazer and a floral printed blouse. It’s an instant “add to cart” outfit for me 😍 VB embodies that effortless “New York chic” vibe and makes me want to walk along the streets of the Big Apple and pretend I’m in an episode of Gossip Girl. Can’t wait for this collection to land in stores!

Carolina Herrera

Speaking of Gossip Girl…this collection was giving Blaire Waldorf vibes and spoke to my heart in so many ways! I couldn’t even pick a favorite look - I loved them all so much. The floral prints, the ruffles, and dramatic shoulder details were speaking to the little girl in me who just wants to play dress up! And let’s not forget the sparkly pink dress 🤩 I won’t lie I’m VERY excited about all of the sequins that have shown up throughout multiple designer collections this fashion week! Who says you can only wear them for evening occasions?! I’m very excited to experiment with them in a more casual way come next spring.

Ulla Johnson

I still love a good bohemian moment even though I don’t wear a lot of looks in that wheelhouse these days, and wow Ulla Johnson is pretty much the queen of boho chic style! I absolutely love her collections and how she incorporates feminine details like ruffles and lace throughout. She has done it again for her Spring collection! You’ll also notice the stunning shades of purple, yellow, and green that she used in various pieces - these are going to dominate the spring season in a big way.

I’m so excited to continue my fashion week recaps over the next several weeks, so stay tuned for London Fashion Week content coming very soon! xo
