A Chic Black & White Outfit
I‘ve been obsessed with wearing neutrals for a long time now, primarily cream, blush, grey, and taupe tones, but the OG neutral that I don’t own or wear a lot of is black. I think somehow over the years I’ve gotten it into my head that black is boring or too “drab” but I need to change that narrative because after putting this outfit together I forgot how much I love a classic black and white look! When I look back at fashion throughout the decades, black has been the consistent staple and truly has stood the test of time. It’s universally flattering and is known to have a slimming effect and depending on the fabric that your garment is made out of, it can take on an entirely different mood from edgy to chic. I’m not saying that I’m going to start wearing black every day 😉 but I think I’ve really underestimated how versatile black is and what a key staple it is in anyone’s wardrobe. As I start to plan ahead for my fall wardrobe and build my wishlist for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (don’t worry - lots of blog posts about that coming your way soon!), I want to pay more attention to closet basics in black and how they can build out the foundation for many outfits to come.
You’re probably sick of me talking about my Abercrombie summer haul by this point 😅 but I ordered this twist halter bodysuit in 3 colors because I loved it so much and knew I’d get so much use out of it this summer. I first ordered it in a rust brown shade and once I saw that it came in black and white it was a no-brainer! My bread and butter for summer outfits so far has been bodysuits and shorts - it’s basically all I’ve been wearing because it’s the comfiest thing to wear. One afternoon when I was filming some Instagram Reels I randomly put this look together and loved how simple yet chic it felt, and I couldn’t resist doing a pop of color with the heels! I’ve been loving this lace-up silhouette for the summertime; they’re such a fun way to show off your tan legs (something I’m still working on lol).
What I love most about fashion is the element of self-expression. Your outfit can speak volumes without having to say a word and it’s so fun to experiment and try new things. Neutral outfits may not be your thing; maybe you prefer to dress in bold patterns and colors - that’s great! As long as you’re having fun and staying true to yourself that’s all that matters. I can’t wait to continue sharing some summer outfit inspo with you over the coming weeks and also dive into all the gorgeous fall product on the Anniversary Sale! As always, let me know if there’s specific content you’d like to see here on the blog, Instagram, or YouTube 🖤
