On Wednesdays We Wear Pink
Calling all Mean Girls fans! Today is a very special and exciting day because it’s basically the ultimate Mean Girls holiday! Of course, I don’t have to tell you this because you already know ;) But in case you don’t (gasp!) then let me break it down for you…with today being October 3rd, it marks a significant occasion when Aaron Samuels asked Cady what day it was, to which she replied, “It’s October 3rd.” To add onto that, today is a Wednesday and obviously that means one thing and one thing only…on Wednesdays we wear PINK!! To this day the movie is still one of my all-time favorites to watch and quote. My best friend and I even made a home video “re-make” of the lunch room scene when Regina talks to Cady for the first time. I wore a blonde hair wig and all (don’t put this in the Burn Book!). But let’s back up and talk about the very first time I saw that movie in theaters…with my dad.
I was 13 when the movie came out and my dad wanted to take me to go see it. I hadn’t really heard anything about it, and to be honest I’m not sure if he had either! His intentions were good; maybe he thought that it would be about bullying and would be a good conversation starter since I was in middle school about to go into high school. Since you’ve seen the movie, you can imagine how embarrassing it was for me sitting in the theater next to my dad! I can still remember the scene where Coach Carr is telling the class to not have sex but passes out condoms immediately afterwards and thinking, “What movie are we watching right now!?” Looking back on it I think it’s hilarious that that was my first experience watching one of my now favorite movies. I watched it countless times after that with friends, but I have never watched it again with my dad LOL.
In true Mean Girls style, I knew I had to wear something pink and “so fetch” today, duh! I realized it would be the perfect excuse to wear this J. Crew sweater (on sale for $49!) that Freddy got me last month, and I’m obsessed with the floral collar on it. It’s like a mix between Gretchen Wieners and Elle Woods :) I also love it when he picks out clothes for me, I think it’s the cutest thing! I completed the look with a flirty black skirt and my pink heels and I was feeling very Mean Girls ready! I just need a pair of white gold hoops…
Even though I have tons of packing and cleaning to do tonight before we leave for California tomorrow, you can bet that I will 1000% be watching this iconic movie tonight! Now go make yourself a hump day treat and do the same, biotch! Love ya! xo
