Black Romper
As you probably know by now, Freddy and I moved back to Scottsdale, AZ 2 months ago and we are so happy to be back! This is where I grew up, and where Freddy and I lived for about 3 years before we moved to Texas. Even though Freddy was born and raised in Palm Desert, he's used to the heat and desert scenery as well ;)
Since I consider Scottsdale "home" I feel very much at peace here and comforted by familiar surroundings. Despite being in my comfort zone in this city, I seem to continue to step outside my comfort zone when it comes to my clothing (recurring theme?). I guess I've just been in the mood to take more risks lately, which has actually been really fun!
By looking at this outfit, you may think I'm playing it pretty safe (all black, pop of color, nude heels), but what you may not know is that I have always steered away from rompers! Whenever I would see one in a store I would automatically rule it out and not even think twice about it. That all changed when I was trying on some pieces from the Victoria Beckham collection at Target last week. I was in somewhat of a spontaneous mood (b/c I was literally trying on everything I could find in my size!) and saw this black romper and thought I would give it a go. I'm so happy I gave it a chance! Even when I purchased it I was still a bit hesitant and thought "hey I can always just return it if I decide against it." The tags immediately came off when I got it home and wore it out that night!
I love the sleekness of this romper, and that the shorts don't flare out too much. And did I mention POCKETS!? I love the feminine detail of the waist bow tie, and the slit opening with the gold clasp at the neckline. It's my new night-out go-to rather than a LBD. It has such a playful vibe and now I'm definitely more open-minded when it comes to rompers.
I wanted to keep this look a bit more classic with a nude heel and a clutch (old, similar here and here), but I definitely plan to dress it down with a denim jacket, some wedges and a cross body bag. You guys, I'm really on a roll with trying new things lately, and I hope it doesn't end with just my clothes! Over the past few weeks I've really been inspired to take the first step into the unknown and just see what happens. You never know until you try!
