My Fitness Challenge

Ever since I was a little girl, I was almost always involved in a sport or active hobby of some sort. It first started out with gymnastics and soccer, then I got hooked on dance and enjoyed taking classes of all genres (ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, etc.) and continued that until my freshman year of high school. At that time I had switched to a different dance studio that was closer to my house, but something just didn't feel right about it and I sadly lost interest in going. I still loved dance and couldn't wait until 'So You Think You Can Dance' came on TV in the summers, but I decided to take a little break from it.

During my junior year of high school I started on the track team, mainly because some of my other friends were doing it so I thought it would be a fun thing for us to do together after school. Man, it was brutal and I wasn't prepared for that kind of intense training! Especially when you're doing everything outside and have days where it reaches 100+ degrees. Track was really the last sport that I have ever been involved in, and since then I honestly haven't had a consistent fitness routine that I'm proud of.

There will be moments of inspiration, where I'll be super excited about a new workout regimen I've found, and I'll stick with it for a couple weeks, but slowly start to lose interest and stop it all together. Anyone else ever been in the same boat as me? For me, fitness and staying active isn't necessarily about how I look, but more about how I feel. I've noticed that when I'm working out 3-5 times per week, I'm more energized and my body feels more alive (if that makes sense) versus when I'm doing nothing. And based on what I mentioned earlier, it's clear that I have a hard time staying on track and motivated! What can I say, I'm a procrastinator at heart and apparently that carries over into my fitness routine!

Starting now, I'm devoting myself to a new fitness challenge of sorts, and one that hopefully (fingers crossed) I can stick to. My plan is to be active for at least 1 hour 3-4 times per week. To be honest, I'm not sure what this looks like yet, whether it's cardio or running or yoga, but my goal is to just block out even 1 hour of time for me to focus on my health and getting stronger. If you'd like to join in on this fitness challenge with me, then please do so and let me know in the comments! And if you have any tips on how to stay focused on reaching a fitness goal, leave me a comment below :) I'm tired of giving up on countless workout regimens, so let's do this thing!! Hope you guys have a great weekend! xo
