My style has ebbed and flowed throughout the different seasons of my life, but at my core I would describe my style as a mix of classic and contemporary with some feminine and elevated details sprinkled in. However, that doesn’t mean I’m immune to trying out the latest fashion trends that come and go. It’s always fun to try new things even if it doesn’t stick! After all, that’s what I love most about fashion: expressing yourself through different outfits and not being afraid to experiment and have fun with it! There are so many trends taking center stage this fall season so I wanted to dedicate a blog post to share my thoughts on a few of them!

Shackets

You guys have heard me talk about shackets quite a bit over the last several weeks on the blog and on Instagram, so it should come as no surprise that I'm doing yet another outfit styling with one of them. This time though, the outfit credit goes to Freddy! He had the miraculous idea to turn this camel shacket into a dress with a belt and all I can say is BRAVO 👏 I was super skeptical of shackets at first and thought they were pretty weird, but I have 100% grown to love them, so much so that I now own 3 of them! We first saw this trend emerge late last year/early 2021 and it’s only continued to pick up steam this fall. You might even say it’s theme song is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen 😉 I truly think they are so versatile and this outfit proves that some of them can actually be worn as a dress! It’s an easy layering piece to throw on when you want to feel more put together while still feeling comfortable. Shacket are roomy yet have a polished look that will instantly elevate your outfit!

Baguette Bags

Seeing baguette bags make a resurgence over the last several months has given me major flashbacks to the early 2000’s when celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were in all of the fashion magazines sporting designers like Fendi and Louis Vuitton. I remember being in middle school around this time and so desperately wanting a Coach bag in their iconic “C” canvas design. I never got a bag, but I did get a tiny coin purse for my 13th birthday and I still have it! It’s so interesting to see trends cycle out every few years; small baguette bags turned into large hobo shoulder bags in the late 2000’s, and now here we are bag to more petite styles again. Honestly, I prefer smaller handbags because it’s less things to carry which makes it so much easier to find things! I could never find anything in my large shoulder bags - it was like searching for a bobby pin in a deep, dark abyss. Some of my favorites in this baguette category right now are the Dior Saddle bag and the Bottega Veneta Jodie bag.

Sweater Vests

I must admit this is a trend that I don’t think I can get on board with 😂 Why? Well, for starters I can’t help but think of Chandler Bing when the word “sweater vest” is mentioned. Don’t get me wrong, I love Chandler! I just don’t want to wear his clothes. Secondly, I just don’t find them to be flattering at all! They’re boxy and frumpy looking IMO and if I want to wear a sweater I’m going to wear one that has sleeves. I’m not going to fully close the door on sweater vests because maybe there’s one out there I’ll actually like, but I’m going to say it’s a verrryyy slim chance.

Next week I’m going to do another installment of fall trends that are making a splash this season and sharing my thoughts on them. Of these 3, which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! xo
