Lady In Pink

New Year…same color! If you thought I would have a new favorite color this year and somehow get over my love for the color pink, then you’ve got the wrong girl :) If it’s possible, I think I’m going to embrace my color even more than ever before, and these photos are proof! If only I had some pink shoes, then I would really be making a statement here! You’ve probably heard some variation of the phrase, “Do you!” or “You do you and I’ll do me” and that’s exactly what I’m doing—and I want to encourage you to do the same!

In my post on Tuesday I talked about how I want to become more self-confident this year and some different ways I hope to achieve that. As an adolescent and even going into adulthood, I’ve found myself in an awkward in-between phase of wanting to fit in and be “cool” while also wanting to be truly myself. I’ll tell you a secret: it’s pretty much impossible to try and do both of those things! Wanna know the other secret? It’s way more fun to be authentically you! Sure, are there times where I find myself struggling with wanting to fit in to be well-liked? Absolutely. But what’s the point of others liking you if you don’t like yourself?

This year, right now, I’m embracing who God created me to be, and I hope that you would be encouraged to embrace who God created you to be, too. Our uniqueness is something to be celebrated, not hidden. If you love the color pink like I do, then flaunt it and wear it! If you love polka dots, rock the dots! Whatever brings you joy and gives you that confidence boost and makes you feel good, do more of that. Your light deserves to shine bright for others to see!
