Free People Floral Maxi
I think it's fun to see how our style evolves over the years. I've had this Free People dress for probably 5 years now (I didn't think it had been that long! I feel old...) and at the time I was really into bohemian style. Free People was my favorite store at the time, and while I couldn't afford everything in there, this dress spoke to me and I knew I had to have it. Since then, it's hung in my closet and has gotten less and less wear over the years. But I think that's one of the neat things about style--it's ever-changing and as we get older, we realize we like different things than we used to, and that's okay! It's kind of like taste buds; I used to hate green onions on my salad, and now I can't get enough of them!
I think my love for country music during my college days helped fuel my love for the boho trend (if I could wear it with cowboy boots, then it was a win in my book). But as the years have gone by and I've grown in my professional career, I've been getting back into my love for classic style; pieces that I can pull out of my closet again and again no matter what year it is. It's not to say that I won't buy into a certain trend every now and then, but overall I definitely feel that timeless and feminine silhouettes are what I gravitate towards most.
I'm also a very big advocate for cleaning out the closet multiple times a year. If I haven't reached for something in my closet in 6+ months, then it's time to say goodbye. Which is true for me and this dress, so I felt like it would be fun to take it out for a spin one last time. It almost feels like I'm letting go of part of my "early twenties era"--this dress sort of represents my style during that time, and despite how much sentimental value I feel for it, I know it's time to let it go and make room for some other things I'll actually wear more than twice a year :) That being said, if you or someone you know might be interested in it, I'll be posting it on my Poshmark account, so stay tuned!
