A Weekend at the Westin
Happy Monday! It feels so good to be writing a blog post, it's been a few weeks since I've posted (sorry guys)! The past few weeks have been a little bit crazy around here, so I thought I'd fill you in on what's been happening in our world. I talked a little bit in a recent post about my dad being in the hospital at the end of April; he had surgery to remove a new brain tumor that appeared and he was able to go home a couple days after the surgery which was great! He's been recovering and will start a new cancer treatment plan next month. Did you know that May is National Brain Tumor Awareness Month? You can show your support and #GoGrayInMay by wearing the color gray! I'll be sharing and talking more on that in an upcoming post. Thank you so much for your prayers--they mean so much!
Over Cinco de Mayo weekend we celebrated Freddy's graduation from Arizona State University and it was amazing!! All of his family came into town from California and Florida, and his mom cooked a delicious Mexican feast for 20 of our close friends, complete with carne asada tacos, rice and beans! We're still enjoying the leftovers and they are sooo good. My parents hosted the party at their house, and it was such a blessing to have our friends and family there. It was even more special having my dad there, too! Freddy had two graduation ceremonies, one at the Diamondbacks baseball stadium and another the following day where he walked across the stage and received his diploma. It was such a sweet moment and one I will never forget. He has worked so hard to earn his bachelor's degree, taking online classes so that he could work full-time to pay for his education. His dedication is so inspiring to me, and I know that his future is so bright and full of possibilities!
In the midst of all the celebrations, we got to hang out with his family at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, which is close to so many shops and restaurants at two outdoor shopping districts (Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter). I have always known about the resort but have never actually stayed there before, and it completely blew me away! Of course, my favorite part was definitely the pool and lazy river. The grounds were so well-kept and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. If you're visiting the Scottsdale area, I highly recommend checking out this resort on your next vacation! Even if you live here it's a great place to have a stay-cation--especially during the summer months when most resorts cut their prices...because no one in their right mind would travel to Phoenix in July, right?
That's it for today, but I'd love to hear what kind of content you'd like to see more of! Do you like these personal updates? Want to see more fashion or beauty posts? I'm always open to your suggestions and ideas :) Have a great day friends! xo
