Fall Capsule Wardrobe: Part 1
I’m so excited for today’s post and to kick off this series with you guys! It’s been in the works for a couple months now and I’ve been bursting at the seams waiting to share it with you! For the first time EVER I have created a capsule wardrobe to get you through the fall season in style. If you’re not sure what a capsule wardrobe is, it’s essentially a few key items that you can mix and match together to create multiple outfits! I don’t know about you, but I’m all about versatility and I love it when I can create several looks that can take me from day to night. Most of the items I’ve chosen are under $100 and I have so many more outfits to share with you over the next month, so make sure to subscribe to be the first to receive new post updates!
With the official start of fall being last week, I felt like it was time to bring out one of my favorite colors: a beautiful, burnt pumpkin spice. If any color screams fall in my book it’s definitely this one! I actually own this cardigan in blush pink (last seen here) so it was a no-brainer to get it in another color perfect for the fall season. It’s a linen blend, making it really light weight and so great for our warm weather in Arizona—yep, it’s still in the high 90’s over here! I have typically worn this cardigan with jeans but I loved it paired back to this suede skirt. Several years ago I used to be a fan of cropped cardigans, but as I’ve gotten older I really love the look of these long-line cardigans. I find them to be flattering on any figure because they are elongating and they give such great flowy movement when you walk!
Speaking of suede, it’s one of my favorite fabrications for fall; it has such a rich, buttery texture and feels very appropriate for the season. Whenever I see a woman wearing a suede moto jacket it instantly makes me feel like fall/winter is finally here, so I thought it would be fun to wear suede in the form of a skirt this year! Just keep in mind to be careful where you sit because suede is delicate and hard to clean. Thankfully with this particular look you won’t have to worry because the cardigan will cover your bum (#winning). The taupe shade is also a wonderful neutral that you can pair with literally anything! I’ll be showing you more ways to style this skirt in the coming weeks so stay tuned. I already know it’s going to be a new favorite in my closet this season!
Last but not least, another fall staple in your wardrobe should be a fabulous pair of boots! While I love a great pair of over-the-knee boots, I find ankle boots to be more versatile and easy to wear. They pair so well with everything like jeans or dresses and skirts, especially when they’re in a neutral color like taupe or black. I own the taupe Marc Fisher ankle boots which I LOVE and find to be extremely comfortable, but this year I decided to not spend as much and I’m really happy with this pair from Nordstrom! Plus, I have never owned a pair of black boots so I felt it was time to bite the bullet and get a pair that would go with everything. I generally prefer boots with a low block heel, between 1 and 1 1/2 inches, for walking around since they are overall more comfortable and can also be worn casually, versus something that is strictly dressy.
Thanks for being here to kick off this brand new series with me—I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating and planning it! It’s amazing what a few great pieces in your wardrobe can do to make getting ready in the morning much easier and honestly more fun! Have a fun-filled and stylish Monday, friends! xo
