Black Lace Blouse
When Spring rolls around I'm so eager to start wearing brighter colors and fun patterns, which usually means my black pieces get pushed to the back of the closet. It's sad, but a definite reality. However, this year I'm trying to break that habit by still mixing those pieces into my Spring wardrobe and making them appropriate for the season! I had an ah-ha moment the other day and thought to myself, "Why would I not wear this top for the next 3 months just because it's a dark color, when I can easily make it work for Spring!?"
I got this blouse from the Who What Wear collection at Target last November (last seen here) and I was pairing it with my black, coated denim and a red, suede heel for a winter look. Now, I'm switching out the black jeans for a mid-wash denim and a pop of color in my shoes. I feel like this piece still works for Spring because of the lace sleeve detail and silk fabric, making it light and airy. I chose to wear my green pom-pom flats again (last seen here) to help brighten the look a bit. Plus, I love how they pop against the pink wall!
Another example of this concept is the black, lace dress I wore in last week's post. Because it's made of a cotton poplin material it's the perfect weight for warmer days, and the eyelet lace details give it a fresh take on a classic LBD. If you love wearing black but want to transition it for the season, try looking for pieces in flowy, lightweight fabrics like silk, cotton, or linen. And if you spot some unique details such as lace, pom-poms or fringe, even better!
I hope this inspires you to re-imagine some of the black pieces in your wardrobe and how you can rock them for the Spring season! xo
Blushfully,
Belle
